As many of you know, I’m fascinated by bog bodies. Back in 2005, there was an exhibit called the Mysterious Bog People traveling the world. The closest it got to New Jersey was Pittsburgh, which is about 8 hours away. I decided to make a trip of it and a bunch of friends decided to come along. I also decided that it would happen the weekend of my birthday, causing one friend to dub it the Bog Body Birthday Bash. A college friend of mine, who independently became fascinated with bog bodies, was asking about the exhibit since she hadn’t been able to to, so I took pictures of most of the souvenirs I got. (I didn’t take one of the book; I ate the chocolate; and I sadly lost the silver spiral bracelet a few years ago–a loss I still mourn. It was a favorite piece of jewelry and though the Met in NY used to carry the same piece, they no longer make it.) So to make a long story short (too late!), I figured I’d post the pics here as well.
Well, it was bound to happen: Sh*t Editors and Agents Say

The Most Badass Excerpt From Barney Frank’s Interview With The NY Times
Interviewer: You’ve long argued for the decriminalization of marijuana. Do you smoke weed?
Barney Frank: No.
Interviewer: Why not?
Barney Frank: Why do you ask a question, then act surprised when I give an answer? Do you think I lie to people?
Interviewer: I thought you might explain why you support decriminalizing it but don’t smoke it.
Barney Frank: Do you think I’ve ever had an abortion?
Morse family tidbit
This is the Morse family arms and crest. Tony is descended from Anthony Morse, who came to Massachusetts from England in 1635 (and really, it’s crazy how many of his ancestors were on the ship James). I think it may have been a little precognitive.
Anthony Morse is also the ancestor of Sarah Anthony Morse. She married and had two daughters. She died when her younger daughter was three. Her husband, Andrew Borden, remarried. He and his wife Abby were later murdered. Daughter Lizzie was acquitted, though people tend not to remember that part.
(And yes, this means Lizzie Borden is a (distant) leaf in my extended family tree.)
